>>> 8:09p "How I Met Your Father"; New on Hulu
Spin-off of "How I Met Your Mother". The original had a dad (voiced by Bob Sagat, who just died),
who we never saw, talking to his 2 teen children. But this has the visible mom calling her
seemingly adult son (who we don't see) to tell him the story. The mom in 2050 is
played by Kim Cattrall, who is not on "And Just Like That"
~~ Just like the original, I wonder if the place where the story starts is the "right" place
for it to start. In the original, one question would be, "Why is this story taking
so long?" Of course, the producers want to keep a show going on for a long time.
But a parent could start by saying, "It started when my parents met, because if
they hadn't, I wouldn't have been born and I never would have met your mom."
~~ One critic pointed out that the plans for this show started a long time ago
and they didn't update the references, so parts feel out of date.
~~ Episode is based on people accidentally switching phone. One critic says
that's something that never happens in real life.
~~ One of the characters lives in the apt that one of the characters from the
original show had lived in.
~~ It has the same theme song as the original.
~~ I didn't love the original, but I watched it all the way through. I expect
to watch this to see how it goes.
-- 9:23p "American Auto"; Iowa mentioned, also mentioned on "HIMYF".
Both shows also used the term "party girl".
