social worker has used phones at his agency for this purpose.  If so, I told Ed

that it might need a new battery.  Of course, since he's not going to be 

out and about with it, he could leave it plugged in when he's using it, although

there may be logistical problems with that.  He said he's had trouble with reception

with other calls, but I said that could be the other person's phone.  He and I had

no trouble hearing each other.

I went there because there is supposed to be double points today but the instructions

says you must select reward at checkout, but I didn't see such a selection available.

When I got there, luckily, it wasn't crowded, and the particular clerk seemed knowledgeable,

which is very rare.  She said that statement was only for people who order at the register.

But the button on the app says "checkout", so they use that word in 2 ways.  They should

call it a register at the store.

However, when I clicked it, it told me it wasn't available on my order.  On the way

there, I realized that what it meant was that I hadn't ordered avocado.  The app SHOULD

order it automatically when you attempt to redeem to coupon, or, at least, instruct you

to order it first.  It seems that I've encountered a number of apps that have this flaw

and I keep forgetting about it.

When I came out in winter parka it seemed too warm, so I switched to lighter jacket.

For unknown reasons, red carpet interviews were not finished by 6p, and when they ended

there were lots of ads so it started 7 mins late.

~~  I found that it started late because of Israel-Hamas war protesters.

~~  Adapted screenplays are usually adapted from novels, but "Barbie" was adapted from a doll.

~~  The "In Memorium" segment is often partly bad, but this one was completely terrible --

if the idea is to honor the people.  But maybe the producers didn't take that part seriously, and,

instead, focused on a performance (singing and dancing) on the stage.  So the camera was pulled back

and it was mostly impossible to read the names of the people who had died.  Or maybe they were 

assuming that everyone has 60" screens.

There was a new character at the start of the episode and she seemed familiar.

I looked up the cast list.  I knew Erin Karpluk from being the title character

on 55 episodes of "Being Erica".  I don't know if I would have realized who she

was if I hadn't been watching on my phone during her scene.  She reappeared later,

but, altogether, she wasn't on the show very long before her character was killed.

Despite the gusty wind, wound up biking 5 mi with neighbor who was already out.

Then I tried to place my order on the app and was expecting free side of shrimp if

I ordered a 2-entree plate.  But, when I tried, the app said I failed to meet the

requirements.  It should have a "fix it" button.  

~~  I decided to drive to the restaurant and I went in but then I realized that I had ordered 

a 1-entree bowl.  It had let me specify 2 entrees, but I didn't realize that the 2nd entree 

overrode the 1st one.  But I could NOT fix it there because they have no wi-fi.  

~~  I knew that wi-fi was available at the Jewel 2 blocks away, so I went there.

At first, the app claimed I was 19 mi away.  I don't know why.  But I eventually fixed

it and it said my order would be ready at 5:10p.

~~  I got there a few mins early and the place was a madhouse.  They offered me a free drink

for waiting but the diet Coke spout was giving nothing but foam.  I got my order at 5:17p

Spinoff of character from "The Good Wife" and "The Good Fight".

In both of those series she was a defense lawyer in Chicago, but now she's moved to 

NYC and is going to be a character similar to Columbo.  In other words, it's

a HOW-done-it rather than a WHO-done it, because the "who" is presented at the beginning.

~~ Her new job is as an independent observer of the NYPD precinct due to a

consent decree that came out of a wrongful arrest lawsuit.

~~  It's hard to know if I should bother watching this.  It's amusing, but I've been watching

the character's quirkiness for years.  In the other shows, there was more going on, but now

she's at the center.  With Columbo, he was a police detective, so if he wanted to intrude,

it would be hard to get rid of him.  Elsbeth doesn't really have that authority.  Her job

is to observe the police, looking for when they are violating the rules.  But, as people

keep telling me, we are supposed to allow for TV writers to ignore reality for the

sake of entertainment.  But if it's not believable, how is it to be entertaining?
