More Imposed Changes

First, my AIM blog was moved to Blogger, but the content was lost. So I started this new blog.

Today, I discovered my AIM page was moved to Bebo. I don't think I've ever heard of Bebo before. There are two "About Me" sections with the second one containing my old content, but the formatting was removed. I was able to figure out how to delete the second one by dragging off to the side. They couldn't just supply a [delete] button, could they? It assumed I was female. I was able to fix that. It seems to allow me to correct the month and day of my birthday, and it says it saved it but it didn't changed. Several attempts failed. It insists I was born in 1969 and it won't let me even try to change that.

I looked at 100 pages of "skins" which give a character to the page. Many are feminine. Many are childish. Many are too busy. Many are too dark. None are quite right. I could design my own but it might be too much work. If I could build it by mixing and matching elements from others then I could probably do it. But it's probably not worth the effort.

At the top of the page is a graphical lifeline which seems to be sort of an attempt to be like twitter. The elements are hard to read and overlap for no apparent reason. I can't understand how the designers can be proud of that. Is it a bug that will get fixed?

The ads, in my opinion, are intrusive. But since it's free I guess I really don't have the right to complain.

I created the original AIM page before facebook. Maybe I should just use facebook. I mostly ignore facebook.

Senior Moment

I was watching "Lost" and the plane started shaking. I was trying to think of the right word. I can hear the announcement from the crew in my mind: "Please return to your seats. The fasten seat belt light has been turned on. We are experiencing some unexpected ..."

I could not think of the word. So I googled some of the pilot's typical words and came up with the answer: turbulence. But even after having it, I'm thinking that it would NOT have popped into my head later. It's not like I hear the word that often. I've probably heard it when portrayed on TV more than I've heard it while flying.

Although there was a flight to Ft. Lauderdale, when I was taking my eldest nephew, then 6, I think, to visit my parents. As we were coming in for a landing there was quite a bit of turbulence. I gave an airsick bag to my nephew and I had to use it, too, although it wasn't a lot.

When the plane landed, everyone applauded.

First Solo Drive

Zach Braff ("Scrubs") was on Letterman talking about his first solo flight and it occurred to me that I should have a memory of driving a car solo for the first time but I have no such recollection. If there were blogs at the time I certainly would have noted it, although I certainly could have noted it in a journal on paper, too. But even if there were blogs back then, I suspect that the record of it would be lost. It might still be in cyberspace somewhere, but it doesn't mean it would be accessible to me.

First blog at blogger

I tried to import my old blog "MooseOnTheHill" that was canceled by AOL in October, but I couldn't ever get it to work. So, I've started this new blog. It is not likely to have a lot of entries.

For those who are familiar with my "schedule" blog, this is different because it will contain thoughts. However, it may have some schedule information also on occassions when my schedule blog is down.
