>>> 1:39p "Quantum Leap" (Metacritic: 56, 40-70, #8, User: 0.8/10, #4)
New version of a show that ran from 1989-1993 with a new generation who are aware
of the original people. But it doesn't seem to be a necessary connection, and,
like the original, it's kind of an anthology with a new situation each week.
However, also like the original, there is the reoccurring situation where the
leaper has to figure out how to act in someone else's body when they know
nothing about them aside from context, and how do they help that person so that
you will leap out of the body. The overarching question is: How do you get home --
something the original leaper, Sam, never figured out.
~~ I will probably keep watching it, but I'm not sure if I should bother. There
were some conveneient coincidences, like the leaper can't remember who he is but
he can speak Romanian, and one of the characters in the past spoke Romanian.
Why does the leaper speak Romanian? I mean, we learn that he knows a number of
languages, but why is that one of them? I suspect there will continue to be too
many such conincidences, and we know that he's always going to manage to solve
the situation and leap.
~~ One difference, it seems, but I'm not sure, is that this leap was unauthorized.
I think the original one was authorized. So Ben had a good reason for doing so,
but no one knows what it was, so there is an additional mystery to figure out.
Will the show last long enough for us to learn the reason?
-- 3:30p Leaving via bike for dinner @Jimmy John's: free tuna salad sub for birthday.
I had to give my phone number which I've never memorized, so I tried to look it up on my phone but the phone app icon was missing. I was able to find my number in the Jimmy John's app (a suggestion by the clerk). But the app decided, of course, that this was when it wanted to tell me I needed to update it. Luckily it didn't take too long.
Then, I went to McDonald's to get a $1 Coke. There seemed to be some problem with their system. By time I figured that out, there were two people in line with complex orders. So it may have taken 15 minutes just to get my Coke.
When I went outside to eat on the patio, it seemed to be clouding up considerably. I tried to look at the weather on my phone but couldn't get connected. I asked a guy and he says there was a 40% chance of rain by 5p.
-- 5:04p Home; Total ride: 10 mi; Sitting in garage; Talked to neighbor.
-- 5:33p Saw lightning quite a bit to the north. Radar makes it look at least 10 mi away.
Apparently, the Contacts app is the same as the Phone app, so at least I
have that until I accidentally erase it somehow.
