they've been assigned a case.  He looks at his phone and there are 10 missed messages

from the boss, without any explanation to why he missed them.  They're assigned to give

a community outreach talk and that quickly leads to them discovering a murder.

The victims car has a smashed window and there is a security camera but they're told that

the security system automatically wipes all the video on the first of the month so

yesterday's video is already gone.  (Is there a system anywhere in the world that would do that?)

There was a Canadian show called "Orphan Black" and I originally thought it was going to

start being shown on a non-premium network, but this is a different show and people insist

that you can watch this one without having seen the original show -- which was about a

particular woman who was a clone.  The show is said to take place in the same universe

as the original, around 2050, about 35 yrs after the original.

~~  One review says, "it lacks the audacity of the original."

Another said that the original was more fun.  Another said it was "disappointingly mediocre"

and also says it's not interesting enough to justify how convoluted it is.

~~  A young woman wakes up on a couch in a living room and is asked some questions by

another woman.  The first woman speaks perfect English but seems to have amnesia and

she's scared.  The other woman says, "You've had a procedure."  The first woman becomes

agitated because the other woman is giving vague answers, and an orderly comes to sedate her.

~~  This is yet another show with a woman called Charlie.

~~  There are a lot of captions to read.  Charlie is deaf and the main character works on

a farm with a lot of Spanish-speaking workers.

I had checked the weather and there was some rain to the north but the projection showed
it drying up on the south end, but after 5 mi I encountered some very light drizzle.
Luckily, it didn't last very long.

After, the owner, Ed, asked how it was, I said, "Good," but I think he wanted more praise.
It was made with beef and lamb, like gyros -- something else available at the restaurant.
With the bun, lettuce, tomato, onion, ketchup, and mayo, it's hard to differentiate it
from any other burger -- except for the price -- which wasn't worth it.  I picked the place
because of the wind direction and distance.

~~  I took a longer way home and ran into a street closure in downtown Woodridge for a
festival -- however, it won't be open until Thursday, which is supposed to be rainy.
I was able to ride on the sidewalk.

This is the 2nd ep.  I haven't tried to watch last week's premiere.
They started with 100 contestants.  It seems that they are starting with 100 new ones.
Everyone is given 30 secs to answer a multiple-choice question on a tablet.
If you get it wrong, you're out.  On the 1st question, the host interviews a random
contestant who got it right.  4 people got it wrong so $4K goes into the pot.
The questions aren't necessarily based on knowledge per se.  This is not an
actual example but they could ask how many letters are in the word "APPLE" if you
don't count repeats.  So, it's a puzzle or riddle rather than a question about knowledge.
If someone is interviews, we learn there name, but, otherwise, they just have numbers,
so we may never know the names of the losers.
~~  It seems you could just ignore the contestants entirely and just play the game
yourself -- without having to leave if you get one wrong.
~~  "eleven plus two" and "twelve plus one" both equal 13 AND they same letters are used,
unlike "ten plus three".
~~  At a certain point, if they've made it that far, they can choose to leave with $1K.
On this episode, 2 took it.
~~  6 people made it to the final question.
Each could leave with 1/n of $10K, where n=6 (the number of people left), so $1666.
If they continue and get it right, they'd split the pot of $96K.
All 6 chose to continue.
Last question was: Longest word possible with "IENCDOV" when allowed to use a letter
as many times as you want.  Most had fairly short words, but 2 came up with
"Inconvenienced" and that's correct.

When I got inside, I went into washroom to look at my back in mirror and saw no cicadas
but when I got up to my den I felt something on the back of my neck and swated it and

-- 11:05p  After unpacking new Galaxy Watch6 smartphone, started charging it.
It didn't come with a power brick, and unlike my old watch it has a USB-C plug.  
I had been charging my old watch my using the USB-A jack on my laptop and I discovered that
my laptop has a USB-C jack.  So, the new watch was already charged to 85%.

~~  The power button has switched places.  Not that big of a deal but I'm sure that I'm going
to be pushing the wrong button a lot!  The old position seemed more natural.

-- 11:44p  It's fully charged and I turned it on.  It displays the name of the watch but
doesn't automatically do anything else -- like show the time.  The instruction don't seem
to address the issue.  There is a double >> on the face and touching it went into a setup mode but
it doesn't seem to do anything except allow a language to be selected, although it has a
Help button and touching that says I need the app on my phone, but I think it's the same app
as the old watch. and going to that app didn't seem to do anything.

~~  So, I suspected I needed to link it with bluetooth and that seems to have gottne
things to progres.  Then I agreed to everything without knowing if I might want to
decline certain permissions.

~~  The watchband seemed a bit odd but I compared it to the old watch and it's designed the
same way but the proportions are different.  I wonder if it's too big for my wrist.

~~  The setup quickly went to 90% and it seemms to have gotten stuck there.
It's impossible to tell if anything is happening.  I didn't check the time but it finally
changed to a screen that says "Pick Your device" and it's only showing the old watch.
The new watch now says "Connection failed. Try again." with an "OK" button.

~~  There are some very confusing instruction displayed on the phone.  One instructions
says to go to setting on the watch but there is no explanation of how to do that.
There is also something that implies that the watch band is a separate device.

~~  On the phone, when I closed the page with those messages, it had a button for
"scan again" and now it shows both watches.

~~  This time is was progressing steadily to 88% and it seems to be stuck again.

~~  A search online says that lots of people have similar problems.  
I reinstalled the app on my phone and turned bluetooth off and on, but it seems to
be stuck at 90% again.  This is SO stupid!!!!  I don't know why the setup doesn't
have any diagnostics!!!!

~~  I clicked the "contact us" and in the middle of that it said it detected a new
device, so I told it to go ahead and this time it's connecting to Google account.
