  • A vocal atheist, whose father is a reverend, gets a friend request from God on Facebook and he gets an online journalist to investigate.
  • Harshest critic said the pilot is "simply an ungodly mess".  His main complaint was how rushed it felt.  Another called it "Warmed-over hash," which is how he also described another new show.  Kindest critic said, "A sweet, surprisingly watchable series that essentially gives "Joan of Arcadia" a Silicon Valley tuneup."  Most like the lead actor, but 4 viewers gave the show a zero.
  • It's pretty much what you'd expect.  It's well done for what it is, but there's no reason for me to care about it.  I'll let TiVo record it but I probably won't keep up with it.

  • A group of seasoned single parents attempt to help out a newbie.
  • One critic doesn't like how the kide talk like college-educated adults, but another thinks the kids hae all of the best lines. One critic said it's the fall's funniest new comedy.  Another says it ranges from silly to dumb, but doesn't see that as a problem.
  • Regis Philbin's daughter, Jennifer is co-creater.
  • I think it's really stupid.  I don't think I laughed once.  But I'll probably keep watching anyway.

-- A Million Little Things
  • Friends come together after a a friend jumps off a skyscraper supposedly without leaving a note.
  • Harshest critic says it's "a slog of a story about irritating and unspecial characters." and adds that it "never finds its way to an authentic moment."  The main theme seems to be "Everything happens for a reason."

  • Kindest critic said, "It's a story well-acted and well-told, its cast folding together like fingers in a glove."
  • Everyone thinks it's trying to be the next "This is Us", which I watch, but I think that's been overrated.

 Premieres

-- Magnum P.I.
  • Harshest critic says it has no heart.  Another said, "pilot episode is an uninspired slop of cornball action and opening misfires."
  • This is a reboot of the 1980s series, and I haven't been watching the other reboots.
  • The first 4 mins have a totally absurd action scene where a military vehicle shoots at a car (driven by Magnum) without hurting it, but when he shoots back with handgun, the military vehicle explodes.  But they might be implying that what we saw was how it was described in Robin's latest book -- it didn't quite happen that way.
  • I don't expect to keep watching.
-- Manifest
  • A plane takes off, encounters some turbulance on the way, but when they land, they are told it's 5.5 years later.  A young boy has a twin sister who wasn't on the plane.  He hasn't aged, but she has, and their grandmother, who wasn't on the plane has since died.
  • One critic says it wants to be "This Is Us" with a taste of "Lost".  Another said, "rote themes of redemption and faith dilute an otherwise intriguing supernatural occurrence."
  • So, what's more important, the mystery, or how the lives of the people have been affected.  And will it last long enough for us to get the answer to the mystery? That seems unlikely -- so, it's hard to know if it's worth sticking around.
  • After watching, it doesn't seem like the kind of mystery that will ever be solved -- because they're kind of implying that God is behind it.  Which implies, "Why now?"  But I think we are just supposed to ignore that question.
  • I expect to keep watching it.

other comedies." But another critic said the co-workers are bad and the show spends too much time at the workplace.

~~  The show is about a possibly Jewish man and an Indian-American wife, like
last spring's, "Alex, Inc.", but this focuses on the wife's perspective.

~~  The 1st two winners were Jewish (with one being raised in Deerfield).
The 3rd has a Jewish father was raised "as Jewish.  Sort of."  Her first
writing partner was a Jennifer.  The 4th was the same person as the 3rd.
The 5th wasn't Jewish, but plays a Jew on the show written and directed
by the person in the previous award.  She thanked a Jen.
And then the streak was broken -- although still they were all shows
that I don't watch.

~~  JEff Daniels thanked Jen Curran.  Another winner, Glenn Weiss, thanked Jen Todd
And then he proposed to Jan (not Jen).  And Glenn is Jewish.

~~  After 2 hours, a show I watched won, for writing -- but then lead
actor for the same show: "The Americans".  His wife and co-star was
nominated but didn't win.

-- 10:53a - 11:25a  Tony called.  He said he shined a flashlight at my house while
he was walking his dog but I didn't see it.

another attempt, or what the consequences of a failed install might be.

It seems that I have 4 mosquito bites in back of left arm above elbow
and one on the inside of right elbow.  Another on top of right foot.
Another under chin.  Top of right forearm.  In front of left ear.
Back of neck on left side.  3 on right side of forehead, 1 on left.

I told them that the flavor was weak last time.  Clerk thought they had probably
used real lemon juice instead of lemonade syrup and didn't squeeze enough lemons in.
So they made it with the syrup this time but the flavor was still fairly weak,
inconsistant, and the shake was also too thick.  I didn't even finish it.
I guess I'm never getting a shake at Sonic again.

The path runs alongside the Metra tracks which ends in Ringwood.  The trail is NOT as
flat as the railroad right-of-way.  North of Ringwood, the trail is on the abandoned right-of-way and is crushed limestone.  It was mostly packed pretty well, but there were a few very soft spots.

>>>   8:07p  "Rel" (Metacritic: 45, 15-67, #5)
Harsh critic said: "The whole thing comes off as uncomfortably clownish and insulting to viewers of any color,
let alone African-Americans who have every right to cringe at such off-putting, clownish portrayals"
Another said: "Likable lead and cast, but Rel otherwise feels like a tepid, tame commercial network sitcom."
Kinder critic said: "There are occasional glimpses of “Seinfeld”-style humor. ... But the pilot is neither
as funny as that NBC classic nor as topical as “The Carmichael Show.” " -- the star of that
show is one of the exec producers and the star of this show played his brother on that show.
~~  The title character is a male nurse and just-divorced father who lives on the West Side of Chicago.
The wife took the kids (and furniture) to Cleveland.
~~  The show is NOT very good, but I might keep watching it.

>>>   9:20p  "You" (Metacritic: 74, 50-91, #14)
One critic said it's, "Scary and soapy and funny and tense."  Another said it's,
"Creepy, addictive and full of dry humor about social media, millennials and dating in the age of Tinder."
Another said it's, "biggest weakness: Often it takes the safest, most predictable option in crafting its
narrative, sometimes veering into the cliche.  Another said, "You may not be great. It may at times even be bad. ...
But it is undeniably magnetic"
~~  A brilliant bookstore manager becomes obsessed with an aspiring writer in this psychological thriller
based on the Caroline Kepne's best-selling novel of the same name.
~~  A bartender is played by Jennie Epps and there is a character named
Guinevere -- the object of the main character's obsession.  One
reviewer mentioned that this is the season's most difficult show go to
google, but the woman's unusual name makes her easy to google -- which
the main character does.
~~  The actor was on "Gossip Girl" where he was obsessed with a girl.
Both shows are from the same production company.
~~  44 mins in, something ridiculously convenient happens and maybe
that's enough to drop this show.  But I'll probably watch the next episode.

that it was in the middle of processing both when the crash occurred.
Luckily, I was able to find a 2nd backup.
