 Premieres

-- Almost Family
  • Was originally titled, "Not Just Me".  It's based on a Australian series called "Sisters".
  • A woman discovers her dad, a fertility doctor, used his sperm on patients, so she has siblings.
  • One critic said, "The pilot has a lot of hidden stupidness underneath the decent acting and relatively funny dialogue."  Most favorable reviewer said it's, "easily the most promising series of the fall broadcast season: funny, poignant, and drenched in the chemistry between three charismatic actresses"
  • Harsh critic said it's a "snooze" and "flat-out creepy."  Another said the show wants to ignore the felony and focus on stories about community and family.  Another characterized it as 'This is Us" with medical rape.
  • One of the mothers is named Genevieve
  • I'm not creeped out by the premise -- the children, who are adults,  are innocent -- so we're just following their lives.  I'm just not sure if their lives are interesting enough to follow.
  • I'll probably continue to watch if the series manages to stay on.
  • I'm assuming they produced this show because it was successful in Australia, however, I don't know what changes they made in this version.
