in the dramedy adaption of Richard Russo's book "Straight Man".

~~  I expect to keep watching but there is a lot of dialog where I'm not sure if the

details matter and it just reenforces his grumpiness, so it seems like a waste of time.

I suppose the wording is supposed to be somewhat amusing, but it doesn't seem enough so.
