Premieres
-- Bob Hearts Abishola
- A 50-yr-old owner of a sock business wakes up after having 3 stents inserted and immediately falls for his Nigerian cardiac nurse who is a single mom.
- Favorable reviews call it sweet. Harsh critic says it "cracks easy jokes grounded in stereotypes."
- It's OK. I expect to keep watching.
-- All Rise
-- Bluff City Law
-- Prodigal Son
- About the people who work at the Los Angeles County Courthouse, focusing on a prosecutor who has just been appointed as a judge.
- It's very frantic so it's hard to follow. It isn't pure drama -- the new judge trips on her way up to the bench on her first day.
- It has unusual twists. It can be unrealistic at times but I will probably keep watching.
-- Bluff City Law
- Another show with a woman named Sydney, who returns to work at her father's law firm in Memphis after her mom dies.
- She had been working to defend corporations, but now she's working on the other side.
- The father thinks Syd needs to learn things from him, but, of course, he is going to be learning things from her, too.
- Critics think we've seen all of this before and the only reason to watch the show is if you just love Jimmy Smits.
- I could drop the show, but I'll probably give it a chance.
-- Prodigal Son
- About a charismatic serial killer -- which is not my kind of show. The killer had a young son when he was finally caught 21 years ago. The son is now an FBI agent.
- The FBI fires him and he's hired as a profiler for NYPD by someone he's known for 21 years.
- One critic said it's "So weirdly stupid that it might actually be good. Or, then again, just weird and stupid." I agree with the latter characterization. I'm not going to watch.
