>>> 12:37p  "United States of Al" (Metacritic: 50, 20-68, #)
Another Chuck Lore sitcom, which are generally among my favorites.
About an ex-Marine who brings his Afghani translator back to US.
~~  One critic says the show has good intentions, but that's not good enough.
Harshest critic has seen 4 episodes and says there's nothing to indicated that it's
willing to move past the predictable jokes.
~~  Another critic said the show might be good if they got rid of the Afghani character.
~~  I'll watch it, because it's NOT horrible.  The main thing about the show is
that Al knows he's in a new culture, but he thinks he's supposed to be teaching
the Americans how to act.  Is that supposed to be funny?  Does it HAVE to be funny --
if it's pointing out how there are different ways people can look at things?
We tend to think that a sitcom needs to be funny, although we DO have shows that
are described as "dramadies".

--   2:55p  Leaving to bike
--   4:00p  After biking 8 mi, arrived for dinner @Babba Grill: Macedonian sausage.  Ate outside.
The didn't have any diet soda so I ate without a beverage, but after got a diet Coke at the McD down the block.
I also forgot to bring a mask, so I used napkins while placing my order.  McD gave me a mask.

--   6:58p  Inside after biking 2.5 mi (Total 35 mi today);  Skim ABC news
--   7:55p  "60 Minutes" ...
--   8:17p  "SAG Awards";  It's pre-taped with a lot of commentary about the performances of the nominees.
The participants signed non-disclosure agreements.  I guess I don't care about who wins, but just wanted
to see how they were going to handle this.  He doesn't think it should be possible to
work full time and still be poor.  He points out that whites are making less than
their fathers.  He decide to raise funds with bonds.  He was originally a bond salesman.
