On the bike ride, I heard rushing water and caught a glimpse of a man-made waterfall
just east of Harlem. For some unknown reason, they don't seem to want to trim the folliage
so that it can be easily seen from the bike trail.
~~ I have now looked it up and it is the Sidestream Elevated Pool Aeration (SEPA) Station #4
of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago. Water is pulled from the
canal and then returned to it. It's been there since the early '90s, so it's been there
every time I've bike the Cal-Sag Trail, and I've never noticed it before today.
