They went to Staten Island and I asked Google Maps to show me a public transit path from

the Tottenville (SW Staten Is) to Perth Amboy, NY, just 1000 feet or so across

Arthur Kill.  It showed several paths where you can walk across the waterway without

a bridge or tunnel.  The nearest bridge doesn't allow bikes or pedestrians.

The Goethals Bridge allows both but is 8 mi further north.
