RogerEbert.com said, "Imagine a 10-hour version of “Knives Out”" but also noted

"remarkably fun series premiere."

Another said, "It has neither the cozy charm of Only Murders nor the ferocious wit of The White Lotus".

I have a feeling it's an attempt to be similar to the later, although, apparently,

it's meant to have the visual and narrative style of an Agatha Christie mystery, however, I never attempt to figure out mysteries -- they're meant to be confusing.

The detective is supposedly the world's greatest, but he says, "That's what THEY say."

I'm also watching a show with detective Sam Spade who said about the same thing about himself.
