>>> 10:05a "Letterkenny" (2/7/2016)
I first tried to continue watching "Runaways" which was the last show I was watching when I
canceled my first subscription to Hulu but it seems that it's no longer available.
They don't say that explicitly -- it just fails to find it on a search.
~~ Billed as: "Quick-witted, fast-paced snappy comedy about rural folk getting by in a small town."
I was already disliking it in its first minute but it's been on for 12 seasons so
I figure I should check it out -- but mostly it's because I've already watched everything
that was broadcast this week and everything that Hulu recommends to me are shows I've already watched.
~~ The title refers to the rural Ontario town where it takes place.
It's named afeter a town in Ireland and is populated mostly by the descendants of
Irish immigrants who escaped to Canada during the Great Famine.
~~ A review on rollingstone.com said "It's very much a guys-being-guys show, even as it presents most of its guys as well-meaning fools at best."
The headline called it "Wonderfully weird". It seems that "guys-being-guys" means drinking, smoking, and insulting each other because they have nothing else to do.
The main characters have a farm so we often see them hanging out at their produce stand in front of their house where they're available to trade insults other townies who drive by. Apparently, some viewers can't get enough of this.
~~ From my view, the insults are meaningless nonsense and they talk fast and have a certain accent that I don't really even hear what they're saying. A LOT of it is slang terms that I don't know. Is it expected that most of the audience understands it.
But, this is only the 1st episode, so I don't know if it ever gets better.
I don't know who does the actual farming.
~~ One reviewer compared it to "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" which I stopped watching after 1st season.
